Amber retrieving on her 10th birthday.
August 17, 2002 - October 05, 2015
Amber is the second Toller that became part of our family and is the foundation of our "kennel". She arrived here as an 11 week old puppy in November 2002 from Jalna Kennel. Amber is an easy going girl and her greatest love is to retrieve from water. Amber's show debut was at the 2003 Canadian National Specialty in Calgary. She placed first in her class at the Juvenile Sweepstakes. With limited showing she went on to win several Best of Breed placements, two Group 3rd and one Group 4th placement. Amber was an excellent mother and has puppies living in several locations in Canada and one in Germany. Six of Amber's offspring went on to become Canadian Champions, four are titled in additional venues and one with German conformation titles. Amber was spayed and enjoyed her final years as a beloved, often spoiled furry family member.
Over the years, Amber and I took several training classes; however, it was my nerves that kept us out of the ring for quite some time. I finally got enough courage up to take her into a CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) and Temperament Test ring on the same weekend. It was a while before I took her back into the ring for Pre-Novice obedience and quickly completed that title. We slowly progressed with trials and in 2010 completed her Rally Novice title. Amber was an easy girl to train, but was really sensitive to my nerves in the ring and eventually decided to retire her from any and all trials. We did well with beginner retrieving class and occasionally trained in that for fun.
